If you’re a BMW connoisseur you probably know that prices for certain models have gone through the roof, especially in recent years. The BMW E30 M3 is one of the most desirable model out there today and it comes with a hefty price, especially if we’re talking rare models with low mileage on the clock. The car we’re looking at today seems to be one of those deadly combinations, as it looks absolutely mint and is a Sport Evolution model.

The video below comes courtesy of BMW M themselves. Published on their Youtube channel it shows Mathias Unger and his 1990 BMW E30 M3 Sport Evolution just hanging around, driving on some scenic roads and telling a story. Nothing out of the ordinary, except maybe for the car, that is absolutely perfect and looks like it left the Dingolfing plant yesterday, not nearly 30 years ago. As the owner claims, this is not a one-time thing, but has been a ‘family heirloom’ for quite some time now.

The BMW E30 M3 Sport Evolution model was a bit different than the standard version, thanks to a couple of carefully thought out changes done to it. Only 600 were made in about 6 months and they were the most extensively changed models of the entire line-up. The displacement of the S14 engine went up to 2,467cc (from 2,305). In addition, the valves were enlarged and a more aggressive cam was fitted. Special nozzles sprayed oil under the pistons to keep them cool and the end result was a power increase to 238 hp at 7,000 rpm, with peak torque rated at 177 lb/ft at 4,750 rpm.

The Sport Evolution was only offered only in Jet Black, like the car you see here, with red bumper stripes or Brilliant Red with black bumper stripes. The wheels are the same 7.5×16-inch cross-spoke items used on other Evolution models, but the spokes are painted a darker Nogaro Silver. Comfort items such as power windows, a sunroof, on-board computer and air conditioning were all deleted in order to keep weight down, though they could be ordered as options. Even the interior map lights and grab handles were deleted.
